1. Do I have to be an SBJ member to submit an abstract?
Yes. SBJ membership is required to make a presentation at the meeting. Membership benefits include a meeting registration discount. For more information, visit the registration page.
2. Is there an abstract submission fee?
No. However, there is a meeting participant fee, and it is non-refundable. All presenters must register for the meeting at the appropriate rate. Presenters must complete the participant registration before abstract submission. You will receive Registration No. (ID) and Password to submit your abstract online after you register for the meeting. Before that, you cannot submit an abstract.
3. I am an SBJ Oversea member. Can I use my membership number to register for the meeting?
Yes. You can enter your membership number in 6 digits on the online registration form.
4. I am a member of a society that has an MOU with SBJ. Do I have to join SBJ to make a presentation at the meeting?
Not necessary. Members of The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering (KSBB), Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering Society of Taiwan (BEST), Thai Society for Biotechnology (TSB), Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc. (PSM), Indonesian Society for Microbiology (ISM), and Indonesian Biotechnology Consortium (IBC) can register with the same privileges as SBJ members. To obtain the specific ID and password, please contact the secretariat of each society.
5. What presentation formats are available?
Each presenter can make one oral presentation.
6. Can I include a table or a figure in the abstract?
No, we only accept text data.
7. What is the character limit for the title and author information?
To apply for a presentation, you need to prepare the data within the following character limits:
- Title: 200 characters
- Author information (names and affiliation abbreviations): 400 characters
8. What is the character limit for the abstract body?
- Oral Presentation: 1,540 characters
- Symposium and Award Lecture: 4,270 characters
9. When will I know my presentation schedule?
All presenting authors will receive an e-mail notification of scheduling in mid-June.
10. Can I revise the submission of my presentation summary?
Yes. Go to the abstract submission site and log in with your Registration No. (ID) and Password. Please note that no modifications will be accepted after the deadline.
11. The system is very slow. Why?
If you are submitting your application on the last two days leading up to the deadline, you may experience some slowness because of the number of people using the system. While we have made every effort to ensure efficient receipt of all abstracts, extreme stress on the system may result in a slower submission process. PLEASE SUBMIT EARLY TO AVOID FRUSTRATIONS. We cannot extend the deadline.
12. After I paid the registration fee and submitted the abstract, I realized that I cannot attend the meeting. Can I cancel my registration?
For cancellations, please contact the SBJ Office by email (), stating your Registration No.
Please note that no refunds will be issued in the case of cancellation or non-attendance.
13. I have registered for the SBJ Annual Meeting as a non-member. Can I get documents required for visa application?
Please note that we are unable to prepare visa application documents for non-members. Only invited participants or SBJ members who will make a presentation at the Annual Meeting will be provided with the necessary documents.
14. Can I check my presentation files on site?
There will be no preview room. However, you will be able to check connections before each session or during breaks when the chair changes.
15. How can I withdraw my presentation?
If you contact the Meeting Committee () by June 8 (Mon), 2026, your presentation will not be included in either the program or the abstract book. If you contact us after this date, we will indicate “Withdrawn” in the program and/or abstract book to the extent possible, depending on the stage of production. If we are notified after the abstract book has been finalized, the cancellation will be announced in the errata PDF posted on this website.
