We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 society awards. All awards of the Society for Biotechnology, Japan (SBJ) aim to reward outstanding work in the field of biotechnology. We would like to congratulate all of the winners on their success.

The Young Asian Biotechnologist Prize has been awarded to Prof. Yue-Qin Tang of Sichuan University and the DaSilva Award to Dr. Sen Qiao of Dalian University of Technology.

Excellent Paper Award of SBJ has been awarded to 7 papers published in the Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering (JBB) or Seibutsu-kogaku Kaishi in 2012. Those papers were selected from all articles published in the volumes of 113 and 114 of JBB or in the volume 90 of Seibutsu-kogaku Kaishi, based on its outstanding quality in both presentation and scientific contribution and for its impact on the field of biotechnology.

Award ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 during the 65th SBJ Annual Meeting in Hiroshima, Japan. Prof. Yue-Qin Tang will deliver the Young Asian Biotechnologist Prize Lecture after the ceremony.
