Area of Specialization Research related to life science, in particular synthetic biology approaches to reveal the evolution and origins of living systems. Researchers with demonstrated experience in biotechnology, biophysics, protein science, or other fields associated with biochemistry are preferred.
Job Description The Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) of the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) is soliciting applications for a research staff member (specially-appointed assistant professor). The successful candidate will promote interdisciplinary collaborations within the Institute, and will work on research aimed at identifying and understanding universal properties of life, the origin and evolution of living systems, and habitability beyond Earth. In particular, we seek scientists who can use molecular and synthetic biology (bottom-up biology) approaches to understand the evolution and origins of living systems. Our institutional language is English; Japanese language skills are not required. An unprecedented level of support for researchers to live and thrive in Japan is provided by our talented staff.
