Character Limit

The character limits, including spaces, are as follows (HTML tags are not counted toward the character limit).

  • Title: 200 characters
  • Author information (names and affiliation abbreviations): 400 characters *Please keep the affiliation as short as possible.
  • Abstract: 1,540 characters

Title

  • Capitalize only the first letter of the title; use lowercase for the remaining words, except for proper nouns.
  • Do not use abbreviations in the title.
  • Do not place a period at the end.
    e.g.) Heat-shock transformation of <i>Escherichia coli</i>

Abstract

  • Within 1,540 characters. Figures and tables cannot be included in the abstract.
  • Please note that excessive paragraph breaks in the abstract text may result in extremely tight line spacing in the Meeting Abstracts due to space limitations, which can make it difficult to read.

Abbreviate all authors’ affiliations.  See Abbreviation List

Corresponding Author’s E-mail

Provide the author number and the email address of the author responsible for correspondence regarding this presentation (if you are a student, enter the information of your supervisor).
Corresponding authors of oral presentations who are SBJ members may be asked to serve as session chairs or judges for the Student Excellent Presentation Award.

Student Presentation Award

Outstanding presentations by student members will be recognized.
Up to two presentations per corresponding author (supervisor) may be considered for the award. Please obtain the corresponding author’s consent before applying.

Application for Hot Topic

The Society regards the annual meeting as an important “seeding” opportunity for members from industry, academia, and governmental institutions. It aims to facilitate the dissemination of research seeds as widely as possible through members’ presentations and reports in the mass media. Please indicate whether you wish your presentation to be considered for media dissemination.

About 30 “Hot Topic” presentations will be selected and shared with Technology Licensing Organizations (TLOs).
If selected as a “Hot Topic,” you may be asked to:

  • Submit an extended abstract for the Hot Topic Abstracts (A graphical abstract is mandatory.)
  • Participate in potential press interviews

Remarks

To request consecutive scheduling, list the Registration IDs in your preferred order (e.g., E0001 → E0021 → E0013).
Please note that requests will be reviewed by the committee and approval is not guaranteed.
