Associate Professor Prakit Sukyai is the Deputy Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Biocomposites at Seoul National University, South Korea. Before that, he earned his Dr.nat.techn. in Food Biotechnology from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria, and his Master of Science in Biotechnology from Kasetsart University, Thailand. He leads the Cellulose for Future Materials and Technologies Special Research Unit, supervising a diverse group of postgraduate students, including international researchers. His research focuses on the utilization of agro-industrial waste, including the extraction of cellulose nanocrystals from sugarcane and cassava bagasse and energy cane through enzymatic processes. He also explores bioactive compound extraction from plants like rambutan peel, coffee pulp and durian peel. His work extends to the synthesis and modification of bacterial cellulose, including nanocellulose, nanofibrils, and nanocrystals, and its applications in structural frameworks and as carriers for bioactive compounds, such as turmeric, hydroxyapatite, and magnetic nanoparticles, for tissue repair and regeneration (bone tissue, wound dressings, skin, and facial masks). He has been nationally recognized, receiving Outstanding Research Awards from the National Research Council of Thailand in 2018, 2022 and 2025, and the Science and Technology Research Grant from the Thailand Toray Science Foundation in 2021. Prakit also serves on several academic committees, including as Vice President of the Thai Society for Biotechnology, and is involved with the Thailand Society of Sugarcane Technologists, the International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists, and the Asian Federation of Biotechnology.
Choowong Auesukaree
(Mahidol University)
演題:High-temperature ethanol fermentation: yeast adaptive stress responses–driven strategies for efficient production

Choowong Auesukaree is currently the Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Thailand. He received his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Osaka University, Japan, and his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Biological Sciences from Kyoto University, Japan. He has received several academic honors, including the Young Asian Biotechnologist Prize from the Society for Biotechnology, Japan.
His research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying yeast adaptation to fermentation-associated stresses, with particular emphasis on high-temperature ethanol fermentation. His work integrates molecular genetics, cell biology, and multi-omics approaches to elucidate stress response networks governing tolerance to high temperature, ethanol, and oxidative stress in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He also explores stress biology–driven strategies and metabolic engineering approaches to enhance fermentation robustness and ethanol productivity toward sustainable bioenergy production.
